Anya Hindmarch unveils Imperial Leather-inspired handbag
British accessory designer Anya Hindmarch has introduced a crossbody purse and charm inspired on the traditional bar soap from Imperial Leather, giving the soap bag a fresh update.
Along with products from Heinz, Kellogg's, and Coca-Cola, the PZ Cussons-owned brand's Original Bar Soap is one of many instantly recognisable goods that have been immortalised in handbag form by the company.
The history of Imperial Leather begins in 1921 with PZ Cussons' acquisition of perfumer Bayley's & Co. of Bond Street and the Imperial Leather Original Bar Soap fragrance, also known as Eau de Cologne Imperiale Russe.
One of the earliest companies to make significant TV advertising investments was Imperial Leather.
Its bar soap became well-known by endorsing well-liked British TV dramas, which led to the plays' own being referred to as "soap operas" and eventually "soaps."
The purse costs £450 at anyahindmarch.com and in stores, while the £175 Imperial Leather charm can be purchased there as well.
According to Megan Harrison, Head of Marketing at PZ Cussons, "this exciting partnership with Anya Hindmarch cements Imperial Leather as an iconic brand from British history that is well-loved by many."
"Generations have used the Imperial Leather Original Bar Soap, and it's amazing to see this historic product hand-selected to be recognised through the design, conjuring up fond memories for many.
"It comes at an exciting time for the brand as we have modernised the current range with new designs and formulations to deliver a fresh new appearance throughout our products," says the spokesperson for the company.
Imperial Leather, as a company, aspires to give its customers opulent experiences every day. This partnership with Anya Hindmarch contributes to bringing a touch of luxury into everyday life, exactly like Imperial Leather.
The agreement comes after the brand revamped its product line and bottle design.
The Original Bar Soap has been updated to incorporate a new formula with a thick and creamy lather that is claimed to be much softer on hands, while the new bottles include revitalised formulae and new aromas.
